How it works: When I first visit with an individual/family, we conduct a Food Questionnaire. The questionnaire can be found on this site. We discuss the client’s tastes, dislikes, favorite foods, diet restrictions, allergies, schedules, and kitchen. We determine essentially what you are looking for in the service, such as how many servings, what foods and how often you would like the service. At that time we will determine preferred cook days/ times and logistics such as entrance and security alarm codes. Next I will customize your first week’s meal from my recipes. Your personal and family favorites can also be included. I will email you the menu I have come up with for you specifically. We agree on method of payment: cash or check. There is no contract just an agreement for me to cook for you on a certain day. The agreement also includes: I leave your kitchen clean; and determination of which container options to use (disposable or reusable). Reusable is preferred but not required. I shop for all the food, come into your home typically once a week, bi-monthly or monthly with my own equipment, and spend about six or seven hours cooking several meals for the week. Then I package the food, label all containers with simple heating instructions and clean up the kitchen. Nothing is left behind except delicious smells and great food. When you get home take the night's meal out of the fridge, turn on the oven and enjoy.
A day in the life of the personal chef: Most mornings start out with a trip to grocery stores and farmers markets when in season. Preferences for grocery stores can be made, otherwise I will shop the morning of the cook date at whatever stores will provide the ingredients needed for the planned menu. On a typical day I arrive at the home carrying groceries and plastic tubs filled with kitchen equipment after shopping to get the vegetables, meat and fish. In a matter of minutes, all four burners are glowing as roasted garlic, blanched vegetables, pan-fried fish fillets and braised pork light up the kitchen. As each item comes off the stove, it is moved into a glass Pyrex container where a fan gently cools it. I label each container and leave a sheet with heating instructions. After washing the dishes, I pack everything up, leaving your family with several nights' dinners and a home with tantalizing aromas. Directions for heating and eating are posted on the refrigerator door, ready when you are. You now have a plan for the week!

A client assessment interview is used to determine what and how the client likes to eat, whether or not they have allergies, sensitivities or just don’t like some foods and any medical parameters to keep in mind.
I use the information gathered in the assessment process to customize an appropriate program for each client.
I research and plan menus that use fresh ingredients tailored to the clients wants and needs.
I shop for all ingredients at whatever sources/stores are appropriate for top quality.
I transport my mobile kitchen containing cookware, utensils, containers along with the client’s groceries to the clients home.
I prepare the client’s meals in their kitchen practicing safety techniques and standards.
I package and label each meal to the serving size and container types requested by the client, then clearly label each container.
I supply simple, understandable heating instructions for each meal.
I leave the client’s kitchen in a clean and orderly state at the end of the cook date.
